Here are 10 key points to help your brokerage establish a local footprint and unique brand among the crowd.

1. Think of your community as a key audience and be sure to invite the community to all of your charity events.

2. Recognize that community is what builds your business and you need to reinvest in it.

3. Create a “yes” charity policy. Ask yourself if this cause is good for the community and if you can afford it.

4. Balance charitable work in your brokerage. Create a community engagement plan that creates direction for your team.

5. Create goals and link them to your profit and loss. Involve your team in making decisions with the budget you need to work with.

6. Resist the temptation to spend big budgets on just one billboard. Instead, look for branded items to give away to your agents and audience.

7. Partner with local businesses to help further boost your charitable efforts. Build relationships with other small businesses.

8. Use your brand colors to help build your brand. Always wear your brand to help build recognition.

9. Keep giving what you can because it will come back to your business in the future.

10. Stay focused and keep working hard and saying “Yes”. Focus on the job you have, not the upcoming market.

The tactics for positioning your team as a local presence aren’t complicated, but it takes focus and hard work. Build recognition with consistent placement of your brokerage name and allow your team to be hyper-involved in the community they serve. Supporting your team, community, and other small businesses is key to building a reputation and business that stands out for years to come.
