Business negotiations are rarely a private matter. Sometimes there’s the occasional blockbuster that drops without a scuttlebut beforehand, but more often than not we hear every juicy nugget in the process. And for a reason.
The Lakers and Nets appear to be at a crossroads when it comes to finalizing a deal that would give Los Angeles the point guard they want (Kyrie Irving) in exchange for the point guard they’ve been actively trying to get rid of ( Russell Westbrook).
During their negotiations so far, both teams have actively used the media to back away from each other and back in their direction. The latest attempt painted a picture of a potential breakup or lack of interest in the talks.
On Tuesday, Athletic’s Shams Charania leaked on the Pat McAfee Show that there is currently “no traction” on any type of Lakers deal for Kyrie Irving, and it is “not sure” that a deal will actually happen. This follows a report from Chris Haynes that the teams were “actively engaged” on an Irving/Westbrook trade.
Then there’s yet another report that suggests the Nets might even be hesitant to move one of their two disgruntled stars and bring them both to training camp. A threat that may be real, but more likely toothless. That brings us to today’s episode.
On this edition of Talk-O-Tuesday, hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla discussed Irving’s latest trade talks, and whether or not it impacted their views on what the Lakers should be ready for. to give up to secure the point. guardian.
The duo also recapped the team’s recent performances at the California Classic and reviewed which players impressed and are worth checking out ahead of their trip to Las Vegas.
